This apprenticeship puts you at the heart of steering sustainability strategy inside a long-standing family-owned SME. Reporting directly to general management, you’ll coordinate the EcoVadis Silver assessment, track the carbon footprint, and roll out a responsible purchasing policy with suppliers on the ground.

The stakes are real for this gourmet food specialist: you’ll help build a concrete response to new regulatory demands like the CSRD while keeping the company’s SBTi-validated climate commitments on track. Your work ensures the company’s artisanal know-how keeps pace with the transparency expectations of the luxury hospitality sector and major names in global pastry-making.

This suits someone who is a Master’s student looking to combine analytical rigor with hands-on versatility in a human-scale environment, comfortable working autonomously to turn complex data into actionable, non-financial performance levers.

Job FAQs

What are the main missions and responsibilities of this role?

The core of this role involves managing the annual EcoVadis assessment and refining the company's ESG performance. You will be responsible for collecting and structuring evidence, analyzing results, and implementing improvement plans across various departments including HR, Purchasing, and Production. Beyond certification, you will play a key role in environmental reporting by tracking greenhouse gas emissions and ensuring alignment with SBTi climate trajectories. This includes preparing regulatory documentation for the CSRD and the UN Global Compact, ensuring the company remains compliant and transparent with its stakeholders. Operationally, you will drive the sustainable purchasing policy by evaluating suppliers' CSR performance. You will also participate in internal ethics initiatives, such as updating risk maps and conducting awareness sessions to embed sustainability into the corporate culture.

Key learning opportunities for this job

This position offers a unique chance to master the technicalities of SBTi and ADEME carbon footprinting methodologies within a real-world manufacturing context. You will gain hands-on experience in navigating the transition from voluntary reporting to the mandatory CSRD framework, a highly sought-after skill in the current market. Additionally, you will learn how to manage multi-stakeholder projects in a SME environment, where you have a horizontal view of the entire value chain. From ethical sourcing to production efficiency, you will see the direct impact of CSR policies on business operations and luxury client relationships.

How does the ideal candidate look like (experience, skills)?

The ideal candidate is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Sustainability, QHSE, or Green Finance. You should possess a strong analytical mind, particularly for data management in Excel, and have a solid understanding of current environmental and social regulations. Soft skills are equally important; we look for someone with rigorous organizational abilities and the interpersonal ease required to engage with diverse internal teams. A proactive attitude and a genuine interest in the food manufacturing sector will be key to your success in this autonomous role.

Advice to stand out and make a successful application

To stand out, demonstrate your familiarity with the EcoVadis platform or carbon accounting tools in your application. Highlighting any past experience where you had to synthesize complex data into clear reports will capture the recruiter's attention. Since this role supports a family-owned business serving the luxury market, show that you understand the importance of brand reputation and traceability. Tailor your cover letter to reflect how you can help a mid-sized company stay agile yet compliant in a rapidly changing regulatory landscape.

What aspects of the company's sustainability is this role likely to focus on?

The role focuses heavily on climate action and supply chain integrity. With a validated SBTi trajectory, the company is committed to science-based targets, making carbon data accuracy one of your top priorities. You will also focus on Responsible Procurement, ensuring that the raw materials—specifically nuts and dried fruits—are sourced ethically. This involves deep engagement with suppliers to align them with the company’s social and environmental standards.

What are the main challenges someone in this role might face?

One significant challenge will be data collection across different departments. In a busy manufacturing environment, gathering precise metrics from production or logistics requires persistence and excellent communication skills to explain the 'why' behind the request. Managing the technical transition to CSRD reporting will also be a hurdle, as it requires meticulous documentation and a deep understanding of new reporting standards that are still evolving for many SMEs.

How could a typical day look like for someone in this position?

A typical day might begin with a coordination meeting with the Purchasing team to review supplier CSR evaluations. You might then spend the afternoon consolidating energy and waste data for the annual carbon footprint update. Your schedule will often include drafting internal communications or reports for the General Management. You may also spend time responding to CSR questionnaires from luxury hotel clients, ensuring that the company's sustainability credentials are clearly and accurately communicated.

What are the opportunities for professional growth and development in this role?

As an intern or apprentice reporting directly to General Management, you will have high visibility within the company. Success in this role could lead to a permanent position as a CSR Manager or a specialized role in Sustainable Procurement. The experience gained here serves as a powerful career accelerator, as you will be able to demonstrate your ability to lead an entire certification process and manage regulatory compliance independently.

The main stakeholders you might be interacting with

Your primary internal link is with General Management, who directly sponsors the CSR strategy. You will also interact daily with the Quality, Purchasing, and Production departments to implement action plans and gather data. Externally, you will be the point of contact for suppliers and luxury hotel clients regarding sustainability inquiries. You may also interface with external auditors or consultants during the EcoVadis certification or carbon audit processes.
