What are the main missions and responsibilities of this role?

The apprentice will be responsible for the entire data lifecycle of the company's carbon footprint, from collection to analysis and action planning. You will ensure that environmental indicators are updated and monitored, helping the business identify specific levers for greenhouse gas reduction. Beyond data, you will lead the CSR steering committee, coordinating cross-functional projects across various departments. This involves defining operational objectives and ensuring that sustainability goals are integrated into the daily reality of the manufacturing and installation teams. Finally, you will manage regulatory monitoring and reporting. You will prepare dashboards and communication materials to share progress both internally with employees and externally with stakeholders, ensuring transparency and continuous improvement.

Key learning opportunities for this job

A student in this position will gain deep expertise in Bilan Carbone methodology and the practical application of ESG metrics in an industrial setting. You will learn how to translate complex environmental data into actionable business strategies and operational roadmaps. Additionally, you will develop strong project management and change management skills. Coordinating a steering committee in an established family business provides unique exposure to stakeholder management and the soft skills required to drive cultural shifts toward sustainability.

How does the ideal candidate look like (experience, skills)?

The ideal candidate is currently enrolled in a Master’s degree specializing in CSR or Sustainable Development and is looking for a long-term two-year commitment. Strong analytical skills and a high level of proficiency in Excel are essential for managing the technical aspects of reporting. We are looking for someone with excellent interpersonal skills and a proactive mindset. Since this is an apprenticeship in a mid-sized company, autonomy and the ability to work collaboratively across different departments are key to succeeding in this transversal role.

Advice to stand out and make a successful application

Focus your application on your ability to handle quantitative data while communicating its importance to non-experts. Demonstrating a genuine interest in the construction or joinery sector and its specific environmental challenges, such as material circularity, will make you stand out. Highlight any previous experience where you had to organize meetings or lead groups. Showing that you understand the operational reality of a production site versus corporate strategy will indicate that you are ready for a hands-on industrial environment.

What aspects of the company's sustainability is this role likely to focus on?

The role focuses heavily on decarbonization and climate strategy. Given the company's activity in manufacturing PVC and aluminum products, energy consumption and material sourcing are likely at the heart of the carbon footprint initiatives. There is also a strong social and governance angle. By coordinating the CSR committee and employee awareness programs, the role directly supports the company's commitment to diversity, employee work-life balance, and maintaining its family-business values during its green transition.

What are the main challenges someone in this role might face?

One major challenge will be data collection across different services. In an industrial SME, gathering precise information for a carbon footprint often requires persistence and the ability to convince colleagues of the importance of these metrics. Another challenge is the transversal nature of the role. You will need to balance technical reporting requirements with the need to keep employees engaged and motivated, ensuring that CSR doesn't feel like an administrative burden but a shared company mission.

How could a typical day look like for someone in this position?

A typical day might begin with analyzing energy consumption data or supplier reports to update the carbon dashboard. You would then hold a brief check-in with the QHSE manager to align on upcoming regulatory deadlines or reporting priorities. The afternoon might be spent preparing workshop materials for the CSR committee or touring the production floor to discuss waste management initiatives with the teams. You'll likely end the day by conducting research on new environmental regulations affecting the construction industry.

What are the opportunities for professional growth and development in this role?

This apprenticeship offers a comprehensive view of a sustainability department's functions. Successful completion of this two-year mission positions you as a versatile CSR professional capable of managing a strategy from diagnostic to execution. Internal growth is possible as the company matures in its sustainability journey. Gaining experience in a 300-employee structure provides the visibility needed to take on more senior responsibilities in ESG management or QHSE leadership in the future.

The main stakeholders you might be interacting with

You will work very closely with the QHSE Manager, who serves as your mentor. You will also have frequent interactions with the CSR steering committee, which includes representatives from various departments such as production, HR, and sales. External stakeholders may include environmental consultants for the carbon audit, specialized partners like BATIMIX for diversity initiatives, and potentially suppliers when inquiring about the lifecycle data of raw materials.
