Job FAQs

What are the main missions and responsibilities of this role?

The primary mission involves designing and deploying the Quality, Safety, Environment (QSE) and CSR policy across the France-Switzerland Business Unit. This includes defining strategic roadmaps, harmonizing standards across multiple subsidiaries, and ensuring all operations align with the Group's operational excellence standards. You will be responsible for managing data collection processes and developing visualization tools to monitor performance. Beyond monitoring, you will actively support subsidiaries in obtaining and maintaining key certifications such as ISO or NF, and lead continuous improvement working groups to optimize service delivery.

Key learning opportunities for this job

Candidates will gain deep expertise in multisite governance within a highly regulated and complex public service environment. This role offers unique exposure to the integration of CSR principles into industrial operations, specifically regarding road safety (SR) audits and large-scale decarbonization efforts. Furthermore, the position provides professional growth in data-driven management and operational excellence frameworks like EFQM. Working within a global transport leader like RATP Dev allows for cross-cultural learning and exposure to international best practices in urban mobility and sustainable infrastructure.

How does the ideal candidate look like (experience, skills)?

The ideal profile holds a Master’s degree in engineering or Quality management with at least 8 to 10 years of experience. Significant expertise in the transport sector or a similar multisite service industry is highly preferred to navigate the operational nuances of the role. Technical mastery of ISO, NF, and EFQM frameworks is essential, alongside proven skills in project management and transverse leadership. We look for someone with strong analytical capabilities who can synthesize complex data into actionable strategic insights for both local and corporate stakeholders.

Advice to stand out and make a successful application

Focus your application on your ability to influence without formal authority, as this role requires federating diverse teams across 50 different subsidiaries. Highlight specific examples where you successfully led a certification process or a CSR initiative in a complex, multi-stakeholder environment. Given the sector's nature, demonstrating a passion for sustainable mobility and an understanding of the specific challenges faced by local authorities (collectivités) will make your profile stand out. Be prepared to discuss how you use data to drive behavioral change and operational performance.

What aspects of the company's sustainability is this role likely to focus on?

The role bridges the gap between operational safety and corporate responsibility, focusing heavily on road safety, carbon footprint reduction, and social inclusion through accessible transport. You will likely lead projects related to the energy transition of bus fleets and local economic development. Environmental management (ISO 14001) and social impact reporting will be key themes, as subsidiaries must demonstrate their contribution to regional sustainability goals to win and maintain public service contracts.

What are the main challenges someone in this role might face?

The most significant challenge is the geographic and operational fragmentation of the 50 subsidiaries. Ensuring consistent application of QSE standards across different regions with varying local constraints requires high adaptability and persistent communication. Additionally, you must balance the immediate demands of operational safety with long-term CSR strategic goals, often within tight budgetary and regulatory frameworks inherent to public transport tenders.

How could a typical day look like for someone in this position?

A typical day might begin with analyzing performance dashboards to identify trends or anomalies across the network, followed by a coordination meeting with the Marketing and Quality departments to align on customer experience goals. Afternoons are often dedicated to site visits or virtual workshops with subsidiary managers to support them through certification audits or to facilitate a working group on continuous improvement. You may also spend time reviewing QSE/CSR components for upcoming public tender submissions.

What are the opportunities for professional growth and development in this role?

This senior position offers a path toward Executive leadership within the BU or Group level, specifically in CSR Director or Operations Director roles. The high visibility with the Corporate headquarters and regional subsidiaries provides a 360-degree view of the business. There are also opportunities to move into strategic consulting for urban transit or specialized roles in environmental energy transition management, given the increasing importance of green mobility expertise in the job market.

The main stakeholders you might be interacting with

You will interact daily with subsidiary directors and QSE referents, acting as their primary support for performance optimization. Internally, you will collaborate closely with the Marketing, Studies, and Quality Directorates at the BU level. Externally, your network will include certification bodies and service providers, as well as participation in Group-wide transversal projects where you represent the France-Switzerland BU interests to the parent company, RATP Dev.
