Job FAQs

What are the main missions and responsibilities of this role?

The core of this role involves supporting the Responsible Business (RB) Team in implementing and monitoring corporate sustainability initiatives across a vast global portfolio. You will be tasked with tracking progress on environmental goals and assisting in the collection and validation of data for both monthly and annual sustainability reports. Beyond data management, you will act as a coordinator for the internal RB network. This includes developing content for internal newsletters and SharePoint, ensuring that sustainability information remains up to date, and helping hotels prepare for relevant industry awards and certifications.

Key learning opportunities for this job

This internship offers deep exposure to ESG reporting frameworks within the hospitality sector, specifically regarding carbon neutral meetings and the 'Hotel Sustainability Basics' initiative. You will gain hands-on experience in how a global corporation manages its sustainability data ('Think Planet' data) and prepares for large-scale annual reporting cycles. Additionally, you will develop professional skills in stakeholder management and corporate communications. Working under the guidance of the Director of Responsible Business, you will learn how to translate high-level ESG strategy into actionable insights for diverse regional teams.

How does the ideal candidate look like (experience, skills)?

The ideal candidate is currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a degree program focused on Sustainability, Business, or Hospitality Management. You should possess strong analytical skills and advanced proficiency in Excel to handle complex data reporting tasks efficiently. Soft skills are equally important; the team looks for a 'Moment Maker' who is self-reliant, proactive, and capable of working in a fast-paced environment. Since the role involves constant interaction with international teams, fluent written and spoken business English is a non-negotiable requirement.

Advice to stand out and make a successful application

To stand out, demonstrate a clear understanding of the hospitality industry's specific environmental challenges, such as waste management and energy efficiency in large-scale operations. Mentioning your familiarity with Science Based Targets (SBTi) or the Hotel Sustainability Basics framework would show significant initiative. In your application, highlight any experience you have in cross-functional coordination. Radisson values their 'Yes I Can!' spirit, so your cover letter should reflect an optimistic, solution-oriented mindset and a genuine interest in how corporate responsibility drives brand value.

What aspects of the company's sustainability is this role likely to focus on?

The role focuses heavily on the operationalization of decarbonization targets. This includes monitoring energy and water consumption data to support the group's journey toward Net Zero by 2050. You will also focus on social responsibility through employee engagement and the promotion of ethical business practices across different hotel brands. A significant part of your focus will be on third-party verification and transparency. By assisting hotels with their 'Hotel Sustainability Basics' verification and award applications, you ensure that the company's sustainability claims are backed by credible evidence and standardized reporting.

What are the main challenges someone in this role might face?

The most significant challenge will be the scale and diversity of the data you manage. Collecting consistent information from over 1,500 hotels across different regions and regulatory environments requires meticulous attention to detail and persistence. You may also face the challenge of varying levels of sustainability maturity across different properties. Encouraging busy hotel operators to prioritize RB initiatives and timely reporting while they manage day-to-day guest services requires tact and effective communication.

How could a typical day look like for someone in this position?

A typical day might begin with reviewing the latest sustainability data entries from regional offices and highlighting any discrepancies for the Director. You might then shift to a creative task, such as drafting a newsletter entry about a successful local community project or updating the SharePoint resource library. In the afternoon, you could find yourself in a meeting with regional coordinators to discuss the implementation of new RB collateral, followed by time spent on Excel preparing the monthly 'Think Planet' report. The day often concludes with responding to hotel inquiries regarding certification applications or reporting software support.

What are the opportunities for professional growth and development in this role?

While this is a six-month trainee position, it serves as an excellent launchpad for a career in Corporate Social Responsibility. Successful trainees gain a high-level view of how sustainability is integrated into a global business model, making them strong candidates for future junior analyst or coordinator roles. The global nature of Radisson Hotel Group also means you are building a network that spans multiple continents, providing exposure to various international markets and potential future career paths within the hospitality sector's growing ESG departments.

The main stakeholders you might be interacting with

Your most frequent interaction will be with the Corporate Responsible Business Team and the regional RB coordinators. You will serve as a point of contact for hotel-level staff who need assistance with sustainability initiatives and reporting protocols. You will also interact with the Internal Communications team to ensure sustainability stories reach the wider workforce. Occasionally, you may support interactions with external consultants or certification bodies as part of the annual reporting and award application processes.
