As a Sustainability Analyst at Frasers Group, you will take full ownership of the environmental data engine that powers a global retail ecosystem. Your primary mission involves building and scaling robust databases for carbon emissions, waste management, and regulatory disclosures across a diverse portfolio of iconic sports and luxury brands. You will be the technical lead for annual audits and the primary validator for complex compliance submissions.

This role is critical because it transforms raw data into a strategic asset for retail transformation. By managing high-stakes metrics for EPR, plastic taxes, and product-level material composition, you provide the transparency needed to de-risk the supply chain and drive circularity. Your work ensures that heavyweights like Sports Direct and Flannels move beyond compliance into measurable environmental accountability during a period of intense regulatory shifts.

This suits someone who possesses a rigorous analytical mindset and enjoys translating complex datasets into actionable insights. You should be highly proficient in SQL and Power BI, thriving in a fast-paced environment where data integrity is the baseline for sustainable growth.

FAQ de l’offre

What are the main missions and responsibilities of this role?

The Sustainability Analyst is primarily responsible for the integrity and management of environmental datasets across the entire group. This includes building and maintaining databases for Scope 1, 2, and 3 carbon emissions, managing waste and recycling data, and overseeing product sustainability metrics. You will play a pivotal role in the annual carbon audit, ensuring all activity data from sites and logistics is collated and verified to external assurance standards. Beyond general carbon accounting, the role focuses heavily on regulatory submissions such as Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR), Plastic Packaging Tax, and WEEE obligations. You will classify products, calculate weights, and validate supplier documentation to ensure legal compliance across UK and EU markets. Furthermore, you will provide analytical summaries and dashboards that allow senior leadership to track performance against ESG targets.

Key learning opportunities for this job

In this role, you will gain deep technical expertise in evolving regulatory frameworks like the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) and Digital Product Passports. Working at the intersection of retail and environment, you will learn how to apply carbon accounting methodologies to complex, international supply chains. This provides a rare chance to understand the material composition and lifecycle of diverse product categories, from high-end fashion to sporting equipment. There is also significant opportunity to sharpen your data engineering and visualization skills. By managing the development of Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems and utilizing SQL and Power BI for group-level reporting, you will become an expert in scaling sustainability data infrastructure. You will also develop soft skills in stakeholder management, learning how to present technical climate data to commercially-driven retail teams.

How does the ideal candidate look like (experience, skills)?

The ideal candidate is a data-driven professional with a background in environmental science, data analytics, or finance. You must be highly proficient in SQL and Power BI, as the role involves managing large volumes of raw data and translating them into clear dashboards. A strong understanding of carbon accounting principles and waste reporting is essential for navigating the technical requirements of the annual audit. Soft skills are equally important, as you must be a persuasive communicator capable of explaining technical insights to non-technical audiences. A self-motivated attitude is necessary to work independently within a high-growth, fast-paced retail environment. Experience with product-level data or supply chain compliance in a retail context would be a significant advantage.

Advice to stand out and make a successful application

To stand out at Frasers Group, emphasize your technical proficiency in SQL and Power BI through specific examples of how you have streamlined data collection or improved reporting accuracy in previous roles. The group values a 'Fearless' mindset, so demonstrate how you have taken ownership of a complex project or solved a difficult data gap independently. It is also beneficial to show a clear understanding of the retail landscape and the current regulatory challenges facing the industry, such as EPR or plastic packaging taxes. Tailor your application to show how your analytical skills can directly support commercial decision-making and operational efficiency, rather than focusing solely on the theoretical aspects of sustainability.

What aspects of the company's sustainability is this role likely to focus on?

The role focuses intensely on data-driven accountability and regulatory compliance. You will likely spend significant time on the 'circular economy' aspects of the business, specifically focusing on packaging, waste reduction, and the material composition of products. This is vital for a business that handles high volumes of physical goods across multiple international markets. Additionally, there is a strong emphasis on decarbonization through transparency. By improving the granularity of Scope 3 reporting and refining carbon footprints for logistics and manufacturing, you will help the group identify the most impactful levers for reducing its overall environmental impact. This role ensures that the company's 'Future Proof' strategy is backed by verifiable numbers.

What are the main challenges someone in this role might face?

One of the primary challenges will be data fragmentation across a wide array of brands and distribution channels. Consolidating information from various departments like Finance, Logistics, and Sourcing into a single 'source of truth' requires persistence and meticulous attention to detail. You may encounter gaps in supplier data that require creative problem-solving to address. Another challenge is the rapidly changing regulatory environment. Staying ahead of new reporting standards across different geographies while maintaining daily operations can be demanding. You will need to balance the rigors of compliance with the need for speed and agility that characterizes the Frasers Group culture.

How could a typical day look like for someone in this position?

A typical day might begin with validating material composition data for a new product line to ensure compliance with upcoming packaging taxes. You could then spend a few hours in SQL, refining a dashboard that tracks recycling rates across distribution centers. Midday might involve a meeting with the Supply Chain team to discuss improving the collection of emissions factors from tier-one suppliers. In the afternoon, you might shift focus to pre-audit preparations, reviewing documentation for the carbon audit or troubleshooting a data discrepancy in the PLM system. The day often concludes with administrative maintenance of compliance accounts or drafting a brief for internal stakeholders on how new ESG regulations will impact their specific department.

What are the opportunities for professional growth and development in this role?

This role offers a clear path toward becoming a Senior ESG Lead or Sustainability Data Manager. As Frasers Group continues to elevate its retail ecosystem, the data infrastructure you build will become increasingly central to the business, offering you high visibility within the organization. You could eventually specialize in climate risk, sustainable sourcing, or digital transformation projects. There are also opportunities for lateral movement within the group. Given the transversal nature of sustainability data, you will develop a broad understanding of retail operations, finance, and branding, which could lead to strategic roles in operational management or supply chain leadership. The 'Fearless 1200' and other internal schemes suggest a culture that rewards high-impact contributors with rapid advancement.

The main stakeholders you might be interacting with

You will interact with a diverse range of internal stakeholders, including Packaging and Product teams for material data, and Finance colleagues for audit and regulatory alignment. You will also work closely with Site Managers and Logistics teams to gather waste and energy data from the frontline of the retail and distribution operations. Externally, your main points of contact will be third-party auditors during the assurance process and regulatory bodies regarding compliance submissions. You may also engage with suppliers to improve the quality of primary data for Scope 3 reporting, ensuring that the information entering the group's systems is accurate and actionable.
