The apprentice will be responsible for animating the decarbonization strategy across several pillars. This includes leading a network of low-carbon ambassadors and creating internal communication content to build a strong climate culture among employees. You will also directly manage the Employer Mobility Plan by diagnosing commuting habits and proposing high-impact reduction levers. Additionally, the role provides support to the procurement and logistics departments. You will help integrate carbon criteria into supplier relationships and analyze transport flows to identify emission reduction opportunities. The mission involves a mix of data analysis, strategic planning, and hands-on project coordination to ensure sustainability targets are met.

Key learning opportunities for this job

This role offers deep exposure to industrial carbon accounting and the practical application of E-mobility strategies within a large-scale corporate environment. You will learn how to translate high-level climate goals into operational action plans, gaining expertise in Scope 3 emissions management and sustainable logistics. From a soft skills perspective, the apprenticeship provides a platform to develop cross-functional leadership and pedagogy. By working with different departments like HR, Purchasing, and Logistics, you will learn how to navigate complex organizational structures and influence various stakeholders without direct hierarchical authority.

How does the ideal candidate look like (experience, skills)?

The ideal candidate is currently enrolled in a Master's degree (M1 or M2) at a business school or university, specializing in ecological transition, CSR, or responsible purchasing. A genuine interest in climate issues and organizational transformation is essential to succeed in this mission-driven role. Technical proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint is required for data analysis and reporting, alongside strong writing skills for communication tasks. We are looking for a curious and rigorous individual who can work autonomously while demonstrating a pedagogical approach to engage colleagues on technical sustainability topics.

Advice to stand out and make a successful application

To stand out, emphasize your ability to link technical carbon data with human engagement. Since this role involves a significant amount of communication and network animation, provide examples where you have successfully convinced others or simplified complex information for a broad audience. Researching Safran's specific decarbonization roadmap (their 'Plan Climat') and identifying the challenges of the aerospace industry will demonstrate proactive professional interest. Tailor your application to show how your analytical skills can help a manufacturing site optimize its specific logistical and mobility footprint.

What aspects of the company's sustainability is this role likely to focus on?

The focus is heavily weighted toward Scope 3 emissions, particularly through commuting (mobility) and the supply chain (purchasing/logistics). You will be a key player in implementing the company's industrial strategy to meet group-level low-carbon commitments. Social sustainability is also reflected through the engagement and awareness aspect. By fostering a climate culture and managing the internal network of ambassadors, this role ensures that sustainability is not just a top-down mandate but a shared responsibility across the workforce.

What are the main challenges someone in this role might face?

One of the primary challenges will be driving change in an industrial context where operational constraints are high. Balancing environmental goals with the practical realities of manufacturing and logistics requires persistence and creative problem-solving. Furthermore, data collection from suppliers and internal departments can be complex. You will need to be meticulous in your analysis while remaining patient and diplomatic when following up with stakeholders who may have competing priorities.

How could a typical day look like for someone in this position?

A typical day might begin with preparing a newsletter or training deck for the carbon ambassadors, followed by a meeting with the HR team to analyze the latest employee travel survey results. You would spend time identifying trends and calculating potential carbon savings for new mobility initiatives. In the afternoon, you might switch to a more analytical or procurement-focused task, such as reviewing supplier carbon footprints or collaborating with the logistics team to evaluate the impact of a new transport route. The day often ends with tracking performance indicators to update the industrial strategy dashboard.

What are the opportunities for professional growth and development in this role?

Success in this apprenticeship can lead to junior CSR or Sustainable Supply Chain roles within large industrial groups. The aerospace sector is undergoing a massive transformation, making expertise in aviation decarbonization highly valuable for future career steps. You will build a diverse professional network across Safran, providing visibility that can facilitate internal moves or permanent roles in environmental management, sustainable procurement, or project management departments.

The main stakeholders you might be interacting with

You will interact daily with the industrial strategy and sustainability teams who oversee your projects. You will also be in frequent contact with the Human Resources department for mobility plans and the Purchasing and Logistics teams for supply chain decarbonization. External interactions might include mobility service providers or consultants, as well as maintaining links with the network of internal ambassadors who represent various operational departments. Your role is essentially the 'glue' between strategic carbon goals and operational execution.
