This historical note covers Heineken’s report for the 2024 financial year. It is useful as a reporting example, not as a current assessment of the company’s performance or evidence of open jobs.
Read the reporting period and boundary together
Heineken announced its combined financial and sustainability report on 20 February 2025. Its 2024 progress summary reports 84% electricity from renewable sources in Scope 1 and 2 in production, and a 34% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 emissions against a 2022 baseline.
These describe different measures. Renewable electricity is not the same as all energy, and a reduction against a baseline is not a statement of zero emissions. The summary also distinguishes Scope 3 FLAG, meaning forest, land and agriculture, from non-FLAG emissions. Do not relabel non-FLAG as simply energy-related emissions.
| Reported measure | Boundary to preserve when citing it |
|---|---|
| Renewable electricity share | Electricity in production, as defined in the report |
| Scope 1 and 2 reduction | Emissions against the stated 2022 baseline |
| Future ambition | A target, distinct from a measured result |
Use the report as an evidence-reading exercise
For a reporting or sustainability application, use a public disclosure to demonstrate how you read evidence. Choose one metric, record its definition and reporting period, and follow its reference to the methodological explanation. Note whether the figure is measured, estimated or a target. Do not treat a company statement alone as independent verification of every underlying activity.
An exercise template: Metric / reporting period / boundary / baseline / source page / limitations / question for the reporting team. Label this as independent work using public information. It is not employment at Heineken or an assurance opinion.
Keep historical research separate from job searching
Check the company’s more recent publications before discussing its present commitments in an interview. An old report can explain a reporting method or business context, but it cannot establish which team is hiring now. Use the reporting job board to examine actual advertised responsibilities.
