Job FAQs

What are the main missions and responsibilities of this role?

The apprentice will be at the heart of the group's sustainability reporting and certification strategy. This involves coordinating with various subsidiaries to manage Qualibat and PG Gaz certifications, which are crucial for the company's technical credibility and carbon reduction efforts. You will also take an active role in employee engagement by organizing internal events such as Octobre Rose and QVCT week. This dual focus ensures that sustainability is embedded both in the technical operations and the corporate culture of the group.

Key learning opportunities for this job

This role offers a deep dive into the EcoVadis evaluation process, a gold standard for corporate sustainability rating. You will learn how to build a robust ESG dossier from scratch, including document drafting and data synthesis, which is a highly transferable skill in the current job market. Additionally, you will gain technical expertise in carbon accounting and the specificities of environmental labels in the construction sector (RGE). Training as a Climate Fresk animator will also hone your public speaking and educational skills regarding climate science.

How does the ideal candidate look like (experience, skills)?

The ideal candidate is a student in a Master's program specializing in CSR or Sustainable Development. We are looking for someone with strong analytical capabilities to handle complex data for carbon footprints and certification audits without losing sight of the big picture. Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills are essential, as you will be the point of contact for subsidiary managers and employees during awareness workshops. Autonomy in project management and a proactive mindset are highly valued in this medium-sized corporate environment.

Advice to stand out and make a successful application

To stand out, demonstrate your familiarity with the construction and renovation industry and how sustainability impacts this specific sector. Mentioning any previous experience or academic projects related to carbon footprints or ESG labels will be a significant advantage. Because Batibig is a family-oriented group, show your ability to be hands-on and versatile. Highlighting a certification or experience as a Climate Fresk animator (or similar tool) will immediately prove your readiness to lead the internal awareness missions mentioned in the offer.

What aspects of the company's sustainability is this role likely to focus on?

The role focuses heavily on energy efficiency and thermal renovation through the management of RGE (Recognized Guarantor of the Environment) labels. This is a core part of the company’s business model and its contribution to the ecological transition in France. There is also a significant emphasis on social responsibility and worker well-being (QVCT). You will likely work on waste management protocols on construction sites and internal diversity initiatives, ensuring a 360-degree approach to ESG.

What are the main challenges someone in this role might face?

One of the primary challenges will be data collection across multiple subsidiaries. Gathering consistent and accurate information for the carbon footprint and EcoVadis assessment from busy technical teams requires persistence and diplomacy. You may also face the challenge of driving cultural change in a traditional sector. Transitioning from technical renovation to a global CSR mindset requires pedagogical skills to convince site technicians and managers of the long-term value of these initiatives.

How could a typical day look like for someone in this position?

A typical day might begin with a coordination meeting with a subsidiary manager to finalize a Qualibat RGE certification file. You might then spend the afternoon analyzing greenhouse gas emission data or drafting a newsletter to announce an upcoming solidarity run. Your day could also include facilitating a workshop for ten employees to raise awareness about environmental issues. The role is a constant mix of desk-based reporting and active on-site or office-based internal communication.

What are the opportunities for professional growth and development in this role?

This apprenticeship serves as a fast track to becoming a CSR Manager or Sustainability Consultant. Since you are involved in nearly every aspect of the group's ESG strategy, you will build a comprehensive portfolio of achievements. As the group grows, there may be opportunities to specialize further in carbon strategy or ESG compliance, potentially leading to a permanent role where you could manage your own team or thematic department.

The main stakeholders you might be interacting with

You will interact daily with Subsidiary Managers to support their certification needs and the Group HR or Communication teams for internal engagement projects. Externally, you might communicate with ESG rating agencies like EcoVadis and certification bodies. You also act as a bridge between management’s sustainability vision and the field technicians who implement sustainable practices on the ground.
