Perguntas frequentes da vaga

What are the main missions and responsibilities of this role?

As a central figure in the organization, you will define and deploy the 3SE (Health, Safety, Security, Environment) and CSR strategies. This involves managing a transverse team of experts and ensuring that safety and sustainability are embedded in every engineering and operational stage. You will represent the company's interests to external stakeholders and regulatory bodies while co-chairing internal safety committees. A major part of the role includes reporting directly to the Executive Committee, providing data-driven insights to evolve corporate policies and action plans.

Key learning opportunities for this job

This role offers unparalleled exposure to the nuclear defense and research ecosystem, allowing you to master the complexities of nuclear safety (Sûreté) alongside traditional environmental safety. You will deepen your expertise in high-stakes regulatory compliance within a highly sensitive industry. Furthermore, you will have the opportunity to lead a strategic CSR roadmap from a position of authority, learning how to balance industrial productivity with ambitious social and environmental targets in a rapid-growth technological environment.

How does the ideal candidate look like (experience, skills)?

The ideal candidate holds a Master's degree in Engineering or Management with significant experience in QEHS management within heavy industry. While nuclear experience is a strong advantage, the ability to manage direct and transverse teams in a complex, regulated environment is essential. Key soft skills include rigorous organization and autonomy, paired with exceptional communication skills. You must be able to translate complex technical risks into strategic priorities for senior leadership while fostering a culture of safety across all operational sites.

Advice to stand out and make a successful application

To stand out, demonstrate your ability to handle high-consequence risk environments where safety culture is a core value. Highlight specific instances where you have successfully integrated CSR initiatives into traditional industrial safety frameworks. Since this role requires high-level security clearance, demonstrating a track record of integrity and regulatory compliance is vital. Show that you can be both a strategic advisor to the COMEX and a pragmatic leader who understands ground-level operational constraints.

What aspects of the company's sustainability is this role likely to focus on?

The focus is heavily weighted towards operational safety and radioprotection, ensuring the highest standards of environmental protection near nuclear sites. You will lead the transition toward a more structured CSR framework, likely focusing on decarbonization and social responsibility. You will also work on the environmental impact of naval propulsion and civil nuclear projects, ensuring that the company’s technological excellence is matched by its commitment to ecological stewardship and employee health and safety.

What are the main challenges someone in this role might face?

One of the primary challenges is the alignment of diverse priorities: balancing the extreme technical requirements of nuclear safety with the evolving demands of modern CSR. Navigating the regulatory landscape of a defense-related industry can also be complex. Additionally, managing cultural change across eight different French sites to ensure a uniform application of safety and environmental protocols requires constant effort, diplomacy, and persistent pedagogical engagement.

How could a typical day look like for someone in this position?

A typical day involves a mix of high-level committee meetings and operational reviews with your team of experts. You might start with a safety committee meeting to review engineering designs, followed by a session with HR to discuss occupational health prevention. In the afternoon, you could be analyzing performance indicators for the COMEX or coordinating with the Quality department to refine management systems. You will often act as a bridge between technical experts and executive leadership.

What are the opportunities for professional growth and development in this role?

Given the seniority and executive visibility of this role, growth paths include moving into broader operational leadership or executive management roles. The exposure to national-scale defense programs provides a unique professional standing. You will also have the opportunity to represent the company in national and international nuclear safety forums, positioning yourself as a leading expert in the intersection of high-risk industrial safety and corporate social responsibility.

The main stakeholders you might be interacting with

Internal stakeholders include the Director of Operations (DSO), the Executive Committee, and the Human Resources department. You will also lead and collaborate with a specialized team of health, safety, and CSR professionals. Externally, you will interact with regulatory authorities, environmental agencies, and industry partners. You will also represent the company in various institutional and defense-related working groups regarding safety and sustainability standards.
