Perguntas frequentes da vaga

What are the main missions and responsibilities of this role?

The core of this role involves spearheading the FMRE sustainability roadmap at the site level, transitioning high-level corporate goals into site-specific actions for emission reduction. You will be the primary custodian of the Energy Management System (ISO 50001), managing everything from internal audits to long-term compliance strategies. Beyond compliance, you are responsible for the full lifecycle of energy efficiency projects. This encompasses the technical assessment, financial justification for CAPEX and OPEX spending, and the hands-on management of turnkey installations that modernize site infrastructure. Your work ensures that industrial output remains high while energy intensity decreases. Additionally, you will oversee the digitalization of energy data. By leveraging tools like building management systems and real-time monitoring platforms, you will identify patterns of waste and propose data-driven interventions to optimize the company's resource consumption and utility budget.

Key learning opportunities for this job

Working within the aerospace industry offers a unique chance to master energy management at a massive scale. You will gain deep expertise in SBTi-aligned decarbonization, learning how a global leader translates international climate commitments into localized industrial engineering projects. There is significant exposure to advanced digital monitoring tools and energy analytics software. Mastering these platforms within a sophisticated Facility Management and Real Estate organization will position you as a specialist in the future of 'Smart Industrial Sites' and automated energy reporting. Furthermore, the role provides a platform to refine strategic financial management skills. Managing significant CAPEX budgets for sustainability requires a blend of technical engineering knowledge and corporate finance acumen, providing a well-rounded professional development path in ESG-focused project management.

How does the ideal candidate look like (experience, skills)?

The ideal candidate holds an advanced degree in Engineering (Master level preferred) and brings at least five years of experience specifically within industrial energy management. You should have a proven track record of implementing ISO 50001 standards and managing technical site improvements. Fluency in both English and Spanish (C1 level) is mandatory, as you will serve as a bridge between local operational teams and international sustainability leadership. An analytical mindset is essential for interpreting energy data and turning it into actionable business cases. Soft skills are equally important; we look for a proactive negotiator. You must be able to convince production leads of the benefits of energy-saving measures, even when they conflict with traditional operational workflows, requiring high stakeholder management capabilities.

Advice to stand out and make a successful application

When applying, focus your CV on measurable outcomes from your previous industrial projects. Highlight specific percentages of energy reduction or CO2 savings achieved through CAPEX projects you directly managed. Airbus values data-backed success stories. In your cover letter, demonstrate your familiarity with the Airbus High 5+ strategy and how your local expertise in Seville can contribute to these global goals. Showing that you understand the specific challenges of balancing high production rates in the defense sector with carbon neutrality will set you apart. Be prepared to discuss your experience with digital transformation in energy. Candidates who can explain how they have used BMS or EMS data to drive behavioral change or technical upgrades will be viewed as highly competitive for this forward-looking position.

What aspects of the company's sustainability is this role likely to focus on?

The role is primarily focused on Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions reduction. By managing energy efficiency and resource optimization at the Sevilla sites, you are a key player in the company’s efforts to lower its direct operational carbon footprint. There is also a strong focus on circularity and resource efficiency. Your mandate includes identifying ways to reduce waste and improve the efficiency of utilities like water and electricity, aligning the physical plant operations with broader environmental stewardship goals. Governance and transparency are also central. Through your management of ISO 50001 certifications, you ensure that the company’s sustainability claims are backed by rigorous data and third-party verification, maintaining the integrity of the ESG reporting cycle.

What are the main challenges someone in this role might face?

One of the primary hurdles is the alignment of energy targets with production rates. In a high-pressure manufacturing environment, ensuring that energy-saving initiatives do not disrupt critical delivery schedules requires expert-level coordination and diplomacy. Navigating complex energy markets and billing for a site of this scale is another challenge. You will need to stay agile in the face of fluctuating energy prices while maintaining the budget constraints set for Facility Management and Real Estate. Lastly, driving cultural change within the production teams can be difficult. Moving from a mindset of 'standard operations' to one where every technician and manager considers energy efficiency a priority requires persistent engagement and the ability to demonstrate value clearly.

How could a typical day look like for someone in this position?

A typical day might start with analyzing energy consumption dashboards to check for anomalies in the previous night’s production cycles. You would use these data points to prepare for a meeting with the Final Assembly Line (FAL) managers to discuss upcoming efficiency upgrades. Mid-day, you might switch to project management mode, reviewing technical specifications or financial forecasts for a new solar installation or HVAC modernization project. This often involves coordinating with external contractors and internal procurement teams. Your afternoons could be dedicated to governance and internal auditing, ensuring that all documentation for the Energy Management System is up to date for the next ISO certification cycle, or participating in a cross-site call with sustainability leads across Europe to share best practices.

What are the opportunities for professional growth and development in this role?

Airbus offers a multicultural and global environment where growth isn't limited to a single site. Successful managers in this role can often move into international leadership positions within the wider FMRE or Sustainability organizations in the group. You will have access to extensive upskilling programs, ranging from advanced technical certifications in renewable energy to leadership development courses. The prominence of ESG in the corporate strategy ensures that high performers have high visibility with senior executives. Lateral moves into Strategic Procurement or Corporate ESG Strategy are also common paths, as the skills gained in managing industrial energy are highly transferable within the aerospace and defense hierarchy.

The main stakeholders you might be interacting with

Your closest collaborators will be the Facility Management and Real Estate (FMRE) team, who provide the organizational framework for your work. You will also interact daily with Production and FAL Leaders to integrate sustainability into their industrial processes. Externally, you will manage relationships with utility providers and energy consultants, negotiating contracts and overseeing the execution of CAPEX projects. You will also be the point of contact for external auditors during ISO 50001 certification cycles. Finally, you will report site-level progress to Global Sustainability Leaders within Airbus. This ensures that the efforts in Seville are recognized at the group level and contributes to the overall achievement of the company's SBTi targets.
