Infineon Secures Top SBTi Approval with 72.5% Emissions Cut

15 maggio 2025

Infineon Technologies has just received approval from the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) for its aggressive greenhouse gas reduction goals. The company pledges to slash scope 1 and 2 emissions by 72.5% by 2030 (vs. 2019) and get 72.5% of its suppliers on board with science-based targets by 2029.

What Happened? Infineon’s targets align with the Paris Agreement’s 1.5°C pathway and meet the highest SBTi near-term standard. It maintains a 2030 CO2 neutrality goal for its direct operations and collaborates with over 100 suppliers on energy efficiency and green electricity measures.

Implications for Sustainability Careers As companies like Infineon ramp up decarbonization, demand grows for roles in sustainability strategy, supply-chain engagement, and ESG reporting. Professionals who can translate science-based targets into actionable roadmaps will be highly sought.
