You are responsible for the entire QSE and CSR roadmap, ensuring that strategic objectives are integrated into daily operations. Your role involves direct management of a multidisciplinary team and representing the company in front of external stakeholders and regulatory bodies. You will regularly report results to the Executive Committee, proposing necessary evolutions to maintain technical excellence and regulatory compliance in a highly sensitive industrial sector.

Key learning opportunities for this job

This position offers deep immersion into the nuclear industry's uniquely high safety standards, providing a masterclass in risk management and radiological protection. It is a rare opportunity to bridge the gap between traditional industrial safety and modern CSR initiatives within a sensitive, high-tech environment. You will gain expertise in complex stakeholder management, interacting with defense and energy authorities, and learn to navigate the intricacies of environmental regulations specifically tailored to nuclear technologies and defense-related projects.

How does the ideal candidate look like (experience, skills)?

The ideal candidate holds an Engineering or Management degree with an extensive background in QEHS management within heavy or high-risk industry. A background in the nuclear sector is significantly advantageous but a proven track record in direct and transverse management is the primary requirement. Beyond technical knowledge, success in this role requires strong pedagogical skills and leadership. Advice to stand out and make a successful application

Focus your application on your ability to manage cross-functional teams in high-stakes environments. Highlighting specific instances where you successfully balanced rigid regulatory safety standards with proactive sustainability or CSR improvements will demonstrate your strategic value. Tailor your message to reflect an understanding of TechnicAtome's role in national sovereignty and technical excellence.

What aspects of the company's sustainability is this role likely to focus on?

The role bridges the gap between operational safety and corporate responsibility. You will likely focus on the decarbonization of industrial processes, environmental footprint reduction of nuclear engineering activities, and the social aspects of workplace health and safety protocols. A significant part of the sustainability agenda will involve the CSR roadmap, ensuring that the company’s impact on local ecosystems and its social contributions to the nuclear medicine and energy sectors are measured and enhanced periodically.

What are the main challenges someone in this role might face?

Harmonizing these strict mandates with a modern, agile CSR strategy requires constant negotiation and foresight. You will also need to manage cultural change, ensuring that safety-first mindsets also embrace broader sustainability goals like resource efficiency and social engagement without compromising the absolute priority of technical security.

A typical day might begin with a safety briefing or risk analysis session with operational managers, followed by a meeting with the HR department to discuss health-at-work initiatives. You might spend the afternoon co-chairing internal safety committees or reviewing a CSR performance report for the Comex. Strategic planning sessions are balanced with external stakeholder engagement, potentially meeting with safety authorities or representing the company in industry-wide sustainability forums to ensure regulatory alignment and expert knowledge sharing.

As a director-level role, the professional growth is significant in terms of strategic influence and leadership scale. You will be at the forefront of the French nuclear revival, positioning you as a leading expert in high-consequence sustainability management. Opportunities for development include moving into broader operational leadership or specialized executive roles overseeing organizational performance and risk across international research and defense consultancy projects.
