Global professional services firm Accenture has announced its agreement to acquire Italian engineering services provider IQT Group. This strategic move aims to bolster Accenture’s capabilities in net-zero infrastructure projects. Based in Rovigo, Italy, IQT Group specializes in designing and supervising projects for electricity generation and transmission targeted at achieving net-zero emissions. The firm collaborates closely with utility providers and various organizations, enhancing the energy efficiency of both industrial and commercial sites while also managing infrastructure for telecom operators.

The acquisition will merge Accenture’s advanced digital capabilities, including generative AI, with IQT Group’s deep expertise in infrastructure, enabling clients to better plan, execute, and manage their net-zero infrastructure projects. With a team of over 450 engineers and consultants, IQT Group will strengthen Accenture’s infrastructure and capital projects practice in Italy, providing strategic consultancy and technology services.

Recent projects undertaken by IQT Group have played a significant role in Italy’s clean energy transition, aligning with the EU’s National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR). This plan aims to modernize physical infrastructure and significantly boost energy efficiency across sectors. Key objectives include improving energy efficiency in both residential and public spaces, advancing sustainable transportation, expanding renewable energy sources, and enhancing waste and water management systems.

Andrea Cavecchia, CEO of IQT Group, expressed enthusiasm for the acquisition, noting that their engineering services combined with Accenture’s global reach will offer enhanced value to clients. “Together we will pursue a sustainable future built on smart strategic infrastructure to enhance the quality and safety of people’s lives,” he stated.

Teodoro Lio, CEO of Accenture Italy, reiterated the commitment to enhancing engineering expertise and the delivery of strategic net-zero infrastructure projects, emphasizing support for both public and private entities in optimizing their energy transition efforts.
