Mercedes-Benz has strategically redefined its sustainability approach by introducing six key focus areas at its 17th Sustainability Dialogue, marking a significant milestone in the company’s environmental and social governance strategy.
The six focus areas—Decarbonisation, Resource Use & Circularity, Employees, Human Rights, Digital Trust, and Traffic Safety—represent a comprehensive approach to sustainable business transformation. These areas were meticulously developed through a multi-stage analysis involving internal and external stakeholders, aligning with the European Union’s Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD).
Key Highlights of the Strategy:
- Ambitious goal to achieve net carbon neutrality for its entire new vehicle fleet by 2039
- Plan to invest over €2 billion in employee training by 2030
- Commitment to recovering 96% of materials in its new battery recycling plant
- Aim to eliminate road accidents caused by its vehicles by 2050
